Event Details

The Greater Frisco Chapter of Jack and Jill of America has teamed up with the Frisco ISD’s One Voice Organization to celebrate African American History month and promote youth engagement. Our theme for this year’s event is “From Bondage to Freedom?- Reflections of African American Contributions to the Past, Present, and Future” and reflects the spirit of empowerment, cultural awareness, and community service that will be integral to this event.

 

 

You will not want to miss guest appearances by:

- Shon Gables of WFAA Channel 8 News-Guest Speaker 

- Celebrity DJ of the K104 Morning Team, Dede McGuire- MC

Performances by:

- The Dallas Black Dance Theater Blooms

- Bandan Koro West African Drumming and Dance

- The Girls of Faith Praise Team

- Greater Frisco Jacks and Jills

- Wakeland High School poets

 

And wait, there's more!  We will have student businesses at our event Marketplace promoting the future-- true financial independence.  Please patronize our student businesses which will be showcased before and after the show.


- Refreshments will be served.

- The Marketplace opens at 6:30.  The show starts at 7:00.

Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated (JJOA) is a nonprofit African American mother’s organization whose aims and objectives focus on the educational, cultural, civic, health and social endeavors of children.  With a membership of almost 10,000, Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated has been impacting and improving communities for 70 years by paying attention to the needs of families and the welfare of children nationally and internationally.
 

 

Greater Frisco Chapter 

The Greater Frisco Chapter (GFR) became an official chapter of JJOA in 2008.   The members of our chapter dedicate many hours to the development of the children in the organization and the community as we work to transform them into world-changers.  Since the inception of the chapter, Greater Frisco has won numerous awards on both a Regional and National level.  Our chapter is committed to continuing the JJOA legacy of being a community partner and equipping our future leaders.


One Voice

 One Voice is a parent organization within Frisco ISD whose mission is to prepare our African American students to excel academically and become college or career ready.  This is achieved by:

- Increasing awareness

- Developing Relationships
- Educational program/tools
- Promoting Pre AP/AP & Dual Credit participation
- Promoting Cultural Competence
- Promoting Diversity
- Mentorship
